Greater Boston Urology is pleased to announce that Dr. Akash Sharma and Dr. Rafael Tua-Caraccia have joined its nationally recognized care team, expanding access to urology and urogynecology care for people across Greater Boston.

Greater Boston Urology is the largest urology group in the state with convenient locations across Greater Boston and the surrounding regions, including ten urology care centers and two interventional radiology centers. Greater Boston Urology is an affiliate of U.S. Urology Partners, which supports community-based urology practices and is backed by General Atlantic.

Dr. Sharma was born in Boston and grew up throughout New England, making his joining Greater Boston Urology a homecoming for both him and his family. A urogynecologist, Dr. Sharma is dedicated to advancing treatment options that improve medical care and quality of life for women of all ages. His clinical interests include robotic and vaginal surgery, as well as neuromodulation.

After earning his medical degree in West Virginia, he completed an OB/GYN residency followed by a fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS) in New York. He earned his undergraduate degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from Northeastern University. Dr. Sharma will primarily serve patients at the North Easton and Framingham offices. Dr. Tua-Caraccia cares for patients with benign and oncologic urologic conditions. His practice includes robotic, minimally invasive, and open surgical approaches. He is excited to return to the Boston area, where he completed medical school and developed strong ties to the region.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, where he received the Harold Williams Summer Research Fellowship. He completed a research fellowship and urology residency at Duke University Hospital Department of Urology. Dr. Tua-Caraccia is fluent in Spanish and has advanced proficiency in French.
