MonaLisa Touch®

MonaLisa Touch is a non-surgical, in-office laser treatment designed to relieve symptoms of vaginal atrophy such as dryness, burning, itching, and pain during intercourse—often associated with low estrogen levels or menopause. Performed by a healthcare provider in a clinical setting, the procedure is quick, requires no anesthesia, and helps restore healthier, more comfortable vaginal tissue.

What is the MonaLisa Touch?

MonaLisa Touch® is a noninvasive laser therapy used to treat vaginal atrophy, also known as genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM). GSM commonly causes symptoms such as vaginal dryness, burning, irritation, and pain during intercourse. MonaLisa Touch helps improve comfort and restore vaginal health by stimulating collagen production and promoting the natural regeneration of the vaginal tissue lining. This process helps restore moisture and improve the overall health of the vaginal tissue. By encouraging the body’s natural healing response, MonaLisa Touch helps rejuvenate vaginal tissue and can make daily activities and sexual intimacy more comfortable.

MonaLisa Touch is also an alternative to estrogen-based treatments such as creams, lubricants, or medications. It may be especially beneficial for individuals who cannot use or prefer to avoid hormone therapy for GSM.

Dr. Angel Marie Johnson explains the MonaLisa Touch procedure

Your physician will use a small probe equipped with a carbon dioxide laser to gently deliver treatment to the vagina. The laser stimulates the production of collagen, which in turn creates healthier tissue. In essence, the vaginal cells thicken and plump up to produce more moisture. This can result in less discomfort and pain, especially during intercourse.
